暮燃-中式蜡烛品牌设计项目
Rememburn is a contemporary Chinese memorial brand that reimagines how younger generations engage with the act of memorial. One of the key brand routes within my MA graduate project, Rememburn, redefines memorialisation as a creative, emotional, and forward-thinking experience, blending tradition with cutting-edge technology and visual storytelling.
Inspired by the Creator archetype, Rememburn champions values of authenticity, diversity, and innovation. The brand invites users to become co-creators of memory, offering bespoke candles that represent individual life journeys, transforming data into design and ritual into a tangible experience.
At the heart of Rememburn lies a unique visual identity that uses the symbolism of dusk and fire, which serve as poetic metaphors for memory, loss, and the continuation of life. The logotype is rooted in traditional Kai and Songti calligraphy, yet modernised with simplified serif forms and custom-designed strokes inspired by the edges of burning wood and scorched paper. This approach merges nostalgic textures with avant-garde precision, producing a typeface that bridges the old and the new.
Building on this foundation, Rememburn developed a geometric monogram that visually anchors the product. The candle itself is composed of distinct stacked sections, each segment derived from a happiness/satisfaction line chart created by loved ones, plotting emotional milestones across the individual’s life. When rotated in 3D, these charts shape the candle’s silhouette, transforming a personal narrative into a physical tribute.
The brand’s primary offering, customisable NFC-enabled memorial candles, allows users to unlock deeply personal content such as stories, images, music, or memories by tapping their phone to the candle, thanks to embedded NFC chips. This combination of tactile tradition and digital innovation fosters emotional connections, creating a space for shared storytelling and collective remembrance across generations.
The visual language strengthens the fusion of personal reflection and cultural heritage. The rich, smoky color palette, inspired by traditional Chinese hues with subtle gradients, evokes emotional depth, warmth, and a strong cultural connection. Meanwhile, the typography blends the minimalist elegance of Oakes Grotesk with the poetic formality of Chinese gothic scripts, creating a design that is both timeless and contemporary.
The layout system follows the International Typographic Style, ensuring clarity, modularity, and cultural neutrality across various touchpoints, from product packaging and posters to NFC content platforms and environmental graphics. Poignant brand lines, such as “Altogether, let us honour the past, celebrate the present, and embrace the future,” infuse the visual system with emotional resonance.
Rememburn is more than just a brand, it represents a quiet revolution in how we design remembrance: personal yet collective, poetic yet precise, ephemeral yet eternal.
暮燃是一个中式纪念蜡烛品牌,致力于为年轻世代创造富有情感共鸣的全方位纪念体验。作为我硕士毕业项目的前期方案之一,这个项目将传统缅怀仪式转化为融合科技创新与视觉叙事的创造性实践。
品牌灵感源于"创造者"原型,秉持真实、多元与创新的价值观。我们邀请用户成为记忆的共同创作者,通过定制蜡烛这一载体,将生命轨迹转化为可触摸的设计语言,每一道曲线都记录着独特的人生旅程,每一次点燃都唤醒珍贵的情感记忆。
品牌标识以"暮色"与"火焰"为核心意象,构建起关于记忆、逝去与生命延续的诗意隐喻。标准字在结合楷书与宋体的传统骨架中,融入了燃烧木枝与焦纸边缘的现代笔触并挑高了文字重心,加强了文字的前卫感,形成跨越时间的视觉对话,将怀旧的纹理与先锋的尖锐相融合,创造出一种既承载文化又极具现代感的品牌基调。
几何构成的图形则根植于品牌产品的独特设计,纪念蜡烛本身由不同的堆叠部分组成,每一部分源自亲友们根据个人感受绘制的人生幸福线形图,记录了个体情感仪式年为单位的里程碑。当三维旋转时,线图的轨迹即形成了蜡烛的轮廓,将个人的叙事转化为一种实体的思念,呈现出独一无二的纪念方式。
我们的核心产品是嵌入了NFC智能芯片的纪念蜡烛,通过手机触碰即可解锁逝者的影像、音乐与故事。这种将触觉传统与数字创新相结合的方式,创造了跨越世代的情感联结空间。浓厚、深沉的品牌色调汲取了中国传统色韵,用渐变处理传递出温暖而深邃的文化共鸣;字体版式则融合了极具现代感的极简衬线体与国际主义的直抒胸臆,确保在各种品牌触点中保持清晰、模块化的信息传递,形成历久弥新的视觉表达。
暮燃不仅是一个品牌,更是一场关于缅怀、纪念的静默革新:它既是私密的也是集体的,既是诗意的也是先锋的,既是瞬息的也是永恒的。
